Two Very Different Arenas.

Trae Cunningham didn’t start with a business plan. He started with a clipboard and a whiteboard — as a Division I college basketball coach, where he spent 20 years studying what actually separates teams that win from teams that fall apart. The answer was never the talent. It was always the people — and whether the coach understood how each one was wired.

From the Court to the Boardroom.

When Trae transitioned from athletics into entrepreneurship, he brought the same framework with him. Together with his wife Raya, he built a team-based esthetics company from scratch — no clients, no staff, no blueprint. They scaled to a 12-person team, crossed seven figures in annual revenue, and sold the company for a 3x multiple. Today, as CEO of Bosses in Beauty, he leads one of the most recognized coaching companies in the beauty industry.

The through-line in every room he’s ever been in: DISC. It shaped how he recruited athletes, how he ran film sessions, how he hired employees, how he onboarded new staff, and how he resolved conflict before it became expensive. Most leaders guess. Trae has a system.
